Welcome to the official Lee Hardy Racing website!
Royal Air Force Reserves Honda was formed in 2012 and ever since the team has grown from strength to strength. We started in the British paddock with National Superstock 1000 and within two years we have progressed on to the MCE Insurance British Superbike grid. We are a small compact team with vast experience, the three year plan is to develop and grow our team and by year three we are looking to run a two rider team.
2014 has been an incredible year for the team so far, if someone would have sat me down and told me the highs and lows we would experience this season I would not have believed them. We started 2014 with Simon Andrews riding the RAF Reserves Honda Superbike and Conor Cummins in Superstock 1000. Unfortunately Simon lost his life in May after an accident while competing at the Northwest 200. This turned the team on its head and we even considered stopping racing, luckily we didn’t make any rush decisions and decided to carry on as Im sure Simon would have wanted.
Peter Hickman came to my attention while at the Isle of man TT setting the fastest ever lap of the TT course, something that Simon had held previously so I knew that Hickman was made of the right stuff!! Myself and Peter spoke and we put a contract together for Peter to ride the RAF Reserves Honda for the remainder of the 2014 season.
Conor’s results at the TT raised the team again and we were so proud of his efforts, Peter has been just what the team needed, a nice guy, easy to work with and very grounded. This has made everything easier for the team to build and work towards results for 2014 and that brings me on to winning our first ever British Superbike race at Cadwell Park. This is was a very emotional day not only for me but the whole team, this was also Hickman’s first ever BSB win and he dedicated his success in memory of Simon Andrews, as nice touch to finish on.
